[Defense] Kabul Bombing
SI Imaging Services
The May 31, 2017 suicide-truck bomb attack was one of the worst terror attacks to hit Kabul in the last several years, and certainly since the April 2016 attack on the National Intelligence Headquarters. The attack occurred in the “Green Zone” – Kabul’s diplomatic enclave and the most secure area in the city. This report examines the damage caused by the explosion and the security surrounding the Green Zone after the attack. Recent imagery shows extensive damage to the immediate blast area, particularly the German Embassy and Roshan Telecom. An enhanced physical security presence is also visible.
