1. Introduction
KOMPSAT-5 reveals new imaging modes and improved image quality after a through renovation. KOMPSAT-5 was launched on August 22, 2013 and has been operated mainly for domestic user community. Recently, the renovation project has been finished, which includes new imaging modes and improvement of SAR processor, to offer better services for all user community. The new modes and new products are ready for order from July 1, 2015.
2. New imaging modes
KOMPSAT-5 has been providing three imaging modes, namely, HR mode (High Resolution mode: spotlight mode), ST mode (STandard mode: strip mode) and WS mode(Wide Swath mode: ScanSAR mode) and now four additional modes are available: EH mode(Enhanced HR mode), UH mode (Ultra HR mode), ES mode (Enhanced ST mode) and EW mode (Enhanced WS mode):

3. Improvement of SAR Processor
The KOMPSAT-5 SAR processor has been updated to support new imaging modes and also to improve the quality of products. The major improvements with respect to image quality are as follows:
● Ambiguity suppression
● Suppressed bright line (vertical)
● More accurate radiometric characteristics
4. New Products Line
With the new SAR processor, the processing levels have been changed. The new SAR processor provides Level 1A, Level 1C and Level 1D. The Level 1A is single-look complex data, which can be used for InSAR and DInSAR applications. The definition of Level 1C and Level 1D have not been changed. The level 1D products are processed using the best DEM available such as SRTM.
