2019 GISTECH TVIS conference was held on May 16th in Bratislava Hotel in Kyiv, Ukraine. Mr. Wookhyun Choi and Ms. Jiyeon Kim attended the conference to offer satellite imagery users more choices for their purchase. Ms. Jiyeon Kim delivered presentation about KOMPSAT program during a session and explained how KOMPSAT images can be used in various applications.

KAGIS 2019 Spring Conference was held for a couple days from May 16th to 17th in Kangwon University in Chuncheon, Republic of Korea. SIIS has been sponsoring this conference regularly and this conference was not an exception. Mr. Keunhui Lee and Minjoong Kim participated the event, and Mr. Minjoong Kim delivered presentation about attended the conference to . Ms. Jiyeon Kim delivered presentation about satellite imagery market trend and KOMPSAT.

KARI(Korea Aerospace Research Institute) has been releasing KOMPSAT Imagery Quality Report since May, 2016. We have been sharing reports on our website and newsletter every other month. The report of March and April 2019 shows information of KOMPSAT-5. It includes location accuracy, ground resolution, etc. The location accuracy of KOMPSAT satellites have improved a lot from the designed specification.

Floods on April 16th, 2019 caused by the flooding of the Paraguay River left a total of 88,000 people homeless and caused one of the biggest crises in the country in the past 50 years. The catastrophe caused considerable damage in places located all along the Paraguay River and the government decided to declare an environmental emergency. The statistics report 30,000 displaced people only in Asuncion, while parks, streets and other places are turning into improvised shelters, because of the lack of housing for the affected people. This application note analyzed the range of affected area due to the flooding with KOMPSAT-3 satellite images.

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, held until May 5th, apparently attracted a huge crowd! These KOMPSAT images captured respectively on April 2nd and May 5th show us how many people were gathered for the Jazz Festival. It is an annual festival of the music and culture of New Orleans and Louisiana in the USA. The festival is a main tourist attraction in New Orleans.
