SIIS team attended Eurasian SDI Conference in Kyrgyzstan for two days from June 29 to 30. Our team discussed about the project by GIS Center of Kyrgyzstan. At the conference, our team was pleased to find satellite imagery companies in Kyrgyzstan and talk about future opportunities to work together.

Participants of 8th KARI International Space Training hosted by Korea Aerospace Research Institute visited Satrec Initiative which is a parent company of SI Imaging Services. Minyo Hong from SI Imaging Services delivered presentation about KOMPSAT imagery and applications to the visitors. The KARI International Space Training has been held every year since 2010, and this year, 26 attendees from 16 countries participated this event. The participants were government officials, engineers and researchers who work in the space sector.

New Port Project started in 2014 and continued until 2017. The purpose of this project was to monitor the port construction site in Dar Al Handasah in Lebanon. It took around 10 newly tasked imagery of each KOMPSAT-2 and 3 with guaranteed priority. Our team delivered the imagery every month and continued for 4 years.



KARI(Korea Aerospace Research Institute) has been releasing KOMPSAT Imagery Quality Report since May, 2016. We will share the report on our website and newsletter every other month. The report of May and June shows information of KOMPSAT-5. It includes location accuracy, MTF, SNR. The location accuracy of KOMPSAT-5 has improved a lot from the designed specification, and it has been improved over time.

In this study, land cover classification of multispectral data was performed using four supervised classification methods: Mahalanobis Distance (MahD), Minimum Distance (MinD), Maximum Likelihood (ML) and Support Vector Machine (SVM), using a KOMPSAT-3A multi-spectral imagery with 2.2 m spatial resolution. The study area for this study was selected from southwestern region of South Korea, around Buan city. The training data for supervised classification was carefully selected by visual interpretation of KOMPSAT-3A imagery and field investigation. After classification, the results were then analyzed for the validation of classification accuracy by comparison with those of field investigation.
